Wellness therapies for accelerated wound healing
Healing depends on oxygen, circulation, cellular energy and nutrients. This article explains the four stages of wound healing and how therapies like HBOT, red light and IV nutrients may help support recovery after surgery or injury, alongside the care from your medical team.

While conventional medical care plays a vital role in wound healing treatments, certain wellness therapies can support and accelerate healing naturally.
Whether you’re recovering from surgery, an injury, skin conditions, or chronic inflammation, biohacking can optimise the wound healing process by enhancing our ability to recover.
Understanding the Wound Healing Process
Wound healing is a complex biological process that requires a synergy of cellular regeneration, immune response and proper circulation. The four key stages are;
- Hemostasis – bleeding stops, and a clot forms
- Inflammation – immune cells clear out damaged tissue and bacteria
- Proliferation – tissue regenerates and new blood vessels form
- Remodelling – tissue strengthens and restructures
Each stage relies heavily on adequate oxygenation, circulation, cellular energy and nutrient availability, and this is where wellness therapies can help.
Which wound healing treatments & Why?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
HBOT involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurised chamber. This significantly increases the amount of oxygen in the blood, accelerating wound repair, reducing swelling and enhancing collagen production and angiogenesis (new blood vessels). It can also help to fight infection.
Great for: Diabetic wounds, post-surgery recovery, and radiation-induced tissue damage
Red Light Therapy
Red and near-infrared light penetrate the skin to stimulate mitochondria, the energy powerhouses of your cells. This process, known as photobiomodulation, increases cellular energy (ATP), speeds up tissue repair and regeneration and reduces inflammation.
Useful for: Burns, skin abrasions, and post-operative scars
IV Nutrient Therapy
Delivering vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into the bloodstream allows for immediate and potent nutrient support during the healing process.
Key nutrients for recovery:
- Vitamin C: for collagen synthesis and immune support
- Zinc: critical for cell growth and repair
- Glutathione: for cellular detox and antioxidant defence
- B-complex vitamins: for energy production and skin repair
Cryotherapy for wound healing treatments
While typically associated with performance, the extreme cold used in cryotherapy can support healing by controlling and reducing chronic inflammation and improving circulation over time.
Best for: Skin regeneration in cases of minor wounds or abrasions
Compression Therapy
By using controlled pressure to improve blood flow, Compression Therapy can reduce swelling (post-surgery) and assist in lymphatic drainage to boost circulation, both of which are key to wound healing.
Ideal for: Venous ulcers and lower limb wounds
A Holistic Approach to Wound Healing Treatments
Wound healing is not just skin deep; it reflects your overall cellular health, circulation, and immune function. If these need some help, integrating wellness therapies into your recovery plan can dramatically reduce downtime and promote long-term tissue health.
So, whether you’re recovering from a surgical or cosmetic procedure, managing chronic wounds (such as diabetic ulcers or pressure sores), or have sports injuries or soft tissue trauma, these therapies offer a proactive, non-invasive, and highly effective complement to traditional medical care.

The therapies behind it
What is mentioned above, and what it actually involves.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Breathing oxygen at increased pressure in a comfortable chamber, to support recovery, repair and cognitive clarity. Sessions are quiet, still and surprisingly restful.

Cryotherapy
Three minutes of extreme dry cold to support recovery, reduce soreness and leave you noticeably alert.

Intermittent Hypoxia Hyperoxia Therapy
Alternating low- and high-oxygen air through a mask, used to train the body's response at a cellular level. You sit still and breathe.

Red Light Therapy
Low-level red and near-infrared light, explored for skin, recovery and sleep. A passive session you can fit into a lunch break.

Compression Therapy
Sequential pneumatic compression to support circulation and reduce swelling. Sit back for half an hour and let it work.

IV Infusion Drips
Vitamins and minerals delivered directly into the bloodstream, prescribed to your needs rather than chosen from a menu.
